Audit Committee Member for South Thames Colleges Group

South Thames Colleges Group is one of London’s largest providers of post-16 education and training and is an ongoing and significant contributor to its local communities. We aim to put students’ success at the heart of everything we do. STCG operates from four main College campuses located at Carshalton, Kingston, Merton and Wandsworth spread across four London Boroughs. STCG has established itself as one of the top Colleges in London having made impressive progress since its creation, and the College’s governors are keen that the College will continue making this progress.

We are seeking a committed individual who shares our vision for high standards in further and higher education to join the Audit Committee of our governing body ( known as the Corporation).  We wish to recruit an individual who is a qualified accountant with recent, relevant experience in risk management, finance, and assurance and who values the work that we do for young people and adults.

The Audit Committee’s  functions include :

• advising the Corporation on the adequacy and effectiveness of the Corporation’s assurance framework;
• playing a robust role in good stewardship and risk management
• advising and supporting the Corporation in explaining, in its annual accounts, the measures taken to ensure it has fulfilled its statutory and regulatory responsibilities

The role is a voluntary role and involves attending three or four Audit Committee Meetings each year.  The meetings take place in the evening and are currently taking place remotely although our ideal candidate should live within 30 miles of one of the colleges in the Group ( Wandsworth, Kingston , Merton and Carshalton)
