About Chailey Heritage Foundation

Chailey Heritage Foundation provides education and care services and is one of the UK's leading centres for children and young people with physical disabilities and complex health needs.

What will you be doing?

Following a retirement on our Governing Board, we are now looking to appoint a new Governor with financial management expertise and experience, who will chair our Governors’ Finance sub-committee.

This sub-committee has oversight and responsibility for operational budget management, as well as capital expenditure within the total allocated by Trustees and also advises the Trustees’ Finance Committee of budgetary issues and priorities.  The Charity has a Trustees’ and Governors’ Finance Committees, each have different levels of responsibility, but the two Committees frequently meet together because of common interests and an overlap of membership.

We are seeking someone to join our Governing Board who can commit the time and energy to help our Charity achieve its strategic aims. This role will give you the opportunity to meet a range of skilled professionals and give back to the community, whilst ultimately knowing that your input has impacted the vulnerable young people in our care.

Our Governing Board has oversight of the operations for all our services, with the Trustee Board having overall responsibility for everything the Charity does.   We have an experienced and effective Finance Director as well as a Clerk who will organise agendas and papers for the meetings.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for someone who has extensive financial management experience and a good understanding of financial strategy.  The total income for the charity is £13.1m.

We are not expecting you to have been involved with a charity before but we would like you to bring all your expertise and experience.

We are a charity not a business but we apply business principles and we are looking for someone to bring their expertise and experience from the wider business world to our charity.

What difference will you make?

As a Governor, you will be joining a highly experienced Governing Board who are committed to the effective and efficient delivery of our services and making a positive impact for the children and young people in our care.

This is a vital role and you will use your skills to lead in all aspects of financial management and offer your expertise as part of the Governing Board.

Commitment:

Estimate of time needed: 0-5 hours / month1 termly finance sub-committee meeting (3 hours) plus 1 termly Governing Board meeting (2 hours) and a budget setting meeting in the summer term.

How to apply:

Please apply through Reach in the first instance, via this link provided. Shortlisted candidates will be asked to complete our additional application form.  Please click on the pack below for more information about the charity and the role.  Thank you!
