Treasurer – The Surrey Schools Football Association

The Surrey Schools FA (SSFA) is an extension of the English Schools FA (ESFA) and oversees the development of schools football across the whole of Surrey. It's role includes supporting the organisation and delivery of inter-schools competitions across Surrey, as well as providing a platform for regional and county representative teams to play fixtures.

The organisation a not- for- profit organisation ran 100% by volunteers from the teaching profession and the wider community.

 

Role and responsibilities:

The Treasurer is a committee position as a full member of the board working alongside the Secretary and Chairman.

You would be responsible for all financial aspects of the organisation which would include (but not be limited to) the following:

  • Maintaining the accounting records for the association
  • Preparing and presenting regular financial reports to the committee and County representative team managers.
  • Cashflow forecasting and management
  • Preparing and managing budgets
  • Authorising and paying invoices/volunteer expenses.
  • Tracking expected income and chasing any debts.
  • Issuing invoices as necessary.
  • Liaising with the ESFA with regards to any expected grant income.
  • Association banking (including being main signatory for bank accounts)

 

Location:

SSFA is a virtual organisation with volunteers located across the whole of Surrey and surrounding areas all working remotely from home.

 

Requirements:

Experience of the following is essential:

  • Excel (ideally advanced working knowledge)
  • Bookkeeping
  • Cashflow forecasting
  • Budget management

Experience of the following are desirable but not necessary:

  • Previous work within the voluntary sector
  • Previous work within the school sector

 

Candidate vetting – Please be aware that as a schools organisation, following appointment the candidate would be required to hold an FA DBS and to complete the online FA safeguarding course prior to commencing the role. Expenses for these requirements would be reimbursed by the association.
