Trustee

Mahogany Opera Group is a leading commissioner and producer of new opera and music theatre. Our vision of opera as an inclusive, collaborative and dynamic artform informs our aim to stretch the boundaries of what opera can be and who it is for.

We are seeking to appoint three new Trustees to join our Board, to replace Trustees who have recently left or are  planning to step down. One of these new Trustees may become our next Chair; our current Chair Penny Jonas has served two terms and is planning to retire from the role in early 2023. She has made a huge contribution to Mahogany Opera since she was appointed in 2015, and we want to take time to select her replacement, who may be an existing Trustee or be someone who joins the Board this year.

We are at a crucial stage in our strategic development and are looking for Trustees who can broaden our horizons, champion and support our work, help build on our national and international reputation and strengthen our organisation.

Mahogany Opera values diverse perspectives and we are keen to hear from people with a wide variety of professional and lived experience.  We are particularly looking for those who represent the communities in which we are working – by geography and/or diverse characteristics. Our current Trustees come from a range of backgrounds in the legal, arts, academic and corporate sectors. We are seeking a new Trustee with an accountancy / charity finance background.

They bring good, independent judgement, a willingness to speak their mind, strategic vision and an ability to collaborate with others. Above all, and beyond their particular skills and experience, they share our values.
