Right There are a charity guided by the belief that everyone has an equal chance to create a safe and supportive place to call home – not just a roof over their head but a place where they feel protected and accepted. Formerly YPeople, they work to prevent people becoming homeless and separated from their loved ones, for children and adults who are living with the effects of poverty, addiction, or broken relationships. They provide tailored support and form trusting relationships to help people feel happier, safer, and more confident to live their lives.

The key focuses for Right There:

  • For People: Providing counselling, mentoring, and family relationship support to those at risk of social inequality.
  • At Home:  From emergency accommodation to housing support – providing safe and supportive places to call home.
  • In the Community: Equip people to live independently and build stronger community connections.

Right There are looking to appoint a new Chair of their board. This instrumental role will support the Chief Executive and the organisation to meet its charitable and strategic objectives. Given the responsibility for the leadership of the board, the Chair will ensure effectiveness across the team. In addition, they work to ensure proper governance, statutory obligations, and regulations as well as the long-term direction of the charity. Fostering positive relationships, they will encourage engagement and discussion between trustees and the executive team.

We are looking for an individual with a strong passion for the values of Right There: compassion, respect, integrity, aspiration, and reflection. Relationship building and networking capabilities as well as diplomacy skills are sought after. You will be a great listener and have senior leadership experience within the public, private or third sectors. You will have a background in another board position, ideally as Chair or Vice Chair and have a transformation and growth mindset. Beyond this, an understanding of third sector of governance and financial issues would be helpful.
