We are working in partnership with Julia’s House, a Children's Hospice in Dorset and Wiltshire who are an award-winning children’s hospice charity for children with life-threatening or life-limiting conditions and their families. Due to retirement, they are now seeking to appoint a Treasurer, with the appropriate finance and accounting qualifications and skills to join their Board.

In line with the Charity’s policy on all trustee positions, this appointment is for an initial period of three years with the option of one further period of three years.

In addition to the general responsibilities of a trustee, the main role of Treasurer is to work closely with and support the Finance Director.

Overall Responsibilities

  • The Treasurer will chair the Finance & Risk Committee and be responsible for reporting its decisions to the main Board.
  • Oversee the financial affairs of Julia’s House and ensure they are legal, constitutional and comply with accepted accounting practice and charity law.
  • Ensure proper accounting records are kept and that effective financial procedures are in place.
  • Monitor and report to the main Board on the financial health of Julia’s House.
  • Liaise with the Charity’s investment fund managers to monitor the implementation of the Charity’s investment policies.
  • Oversee the preparation of annual financial reports and accounts by the Finance Director for presentation to the auditors.

You will have a relevant accounting qualification and charity governance experience. An understanding of current business and management practices would be helpful.

The Treasurer will lead on appointing and liaising with the Charity’s auditors along with the Finance Director and will have the ability to communicate clearly and knowledgeably on all financial issues.

This is a wonderful opportunity to join this very special charity that cares for children with life-limiting conditions and their families, through regular respite, end of life care and bereavement support.

We welcome and encourage applications from people of all backgrounds. We do not discriminate on the basis of disability, race, colour, ethnicity, gender, religion, sexual orientation, age, veteran status or other category protected by law.

If you have the skills, experience and vision to join Julia’s House as their next Treasurer, please submit your application to Sandra Smith, on the Charisma Charity Recruitment website - Treasurer (voluntary post) - Julia's House (charismarecruitment.co.uk)
