Could you be part of Nottinghamshire Minds ambitious future and help us to support more people with mental health problems?

Following a significant period of growth for the charity, this is an exciting opportunity to join the board of trustees at Nottinghamshire Mind.

We are an independent local charity, working across Nottinghamshire and affiliated to national Mind. Our vision is that we won’t give up until everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets both support and respect. We have an excellent reputation in our area and deliver varied and impactful services that are truly transformational for those who access them and the wider community. We have a turnover of around £1.7 million and are in the process of significantly expanding our delivery across different areas and communities

The opportunity

We’re looking for up to five trustees to join our board from August 2022

Trustees are our most senior leaders. They set our strategic direction, make sure we’re using our resources effectively and ensure we’re having the greatest possible impact on our community.

Our trustees are expected to undertake duties in a manner that reflects Nottinghamshire Mind’s values and ethos.

Therefore, we are looking for dedicated, empathetic and ambitious candidates to help make our mission a reality and lead us closer towards our ultimate ambition: a society where everyone experiencing a mental health problem receives both support and respect.

As a trustee you will:

  • Think strategically and creatively. Lead the organisation towards fully achieving its commitment and ambition. Scrutinise the impact we’re having. Communicate clearly and sensitively in large group discussions. Use independent judgement to make decisions on behalf of the organisation. Be committed to our mission, vision and values.

Diversity is critical for a board to be effective, enabling varied discussions, active debate and sound decision making so that together we can have the greatest impact.

We encourage applications from people with lived experience of mental health problems and from all ethnic, socio-economic, religious and professional and personal backgrounds. Whether you’re an experienced trustee or taking your first steps into governance, if you have the commitment, values, and skills, we want to hear from you.

As a trustee, you will receive:

  • Induction and training into the role.
  • Your expenses reimbursed.
  • Opportunities to develop new skills.
  • An annual appraisal to help support your development.
