Dorset Wildlife Trust is the leading nature conservation charity in Dorset.  From small beginnings in 1961 we now have over 27,000 members, 42 nature reserves and 5 visitor centres.  As a business we have grown, with over 55 employees, but we have never lost our volunteer ethos and we rely on thousands of people to help us look after wildlife and wild places in Dorset.  Like most charities Dorset Wildlife Trust has experienced significant challenges in the past two years but is in a strong position to move forward with new projects on the horizon.  Last year we were not only successful in having one of our nature reserves designated as a National Nature Reserve but also acquired a large tract of land for a major rewilding project.  Trustees are keen to strengthen Board expertise in finance, agricultural land management and ecological restoration to advise and support management on major projects.  Trustees are expected to attend quarterly Council meetings, the annual AGM and participate in a committee with quarterly meetings.  The trustee term is 3 years; more details can be found in the application pack available from the Company Secretary (
