The Patients Association is a leading campaigning charity that champions patient and public concerns across the health and social care sector. We work with NHS England, NHS Improvement, the Department of Health, NHS Trusts, Clinical Commissioning Groups, regulators, patients, carers and the public and many other stakeholders, as well as the media to ensure the patient voice is heard and informs national and local health and care policy development to secure high quality healthcare.

The Board of Trustees is the governing body of the charity and members are also directors of the company and have a number of statutory and legal duties.

For this position, we are seeking candidates with experience in governance, finance, and patient experience. We seek particularly those who have an in-depth digital background, and an understanding of the UK Health and Social Care Sector is desirable. We are looking for someone who shares the values of The Patients Association, and strives to uphold our mission for compassion, inclusivity, and empowerment. Individuals with relevant experience, who could progress to chairing relevant committees within the Patients Association trustee structure, are of particular interest. We welcome applications from potential trustees from a wide range of diverse backgrounds. We want to make sure that the people we represent, are represented in our Trustee Board.

The Patients Association is implementing an ambitious new strategy, the dedicated purpose of which is to ensure that all patients can access the care they need to live their lives well, with outcomes they want to achieve. This should be realised by a partnership approach with clinicians, where patients are active participants in decision making about their treatment and care and are engaged in the design and delivery of the services that will meet their needs. The contribution and commitment of trustees is fundamental to the achievement of these aims.

If you are interested in the role and would like an informal discussion, please contact the Chair of Trustees Lucy Watson lucy.watson@patients-association.org.uk, Vice Chair Julie Thallon Julie.thallon@patients-association.org.uk or Rachel Power Chief Executive Rachel.power@patients-association.org.uk Tel. 020 8423 9111

Applications should be made by submitting a copy of your curriculum vitae, including two employment or professional references and a covering letter stating how you meet the requirements of the Trustee role description to Holly Sinclair (Personal Assistant to the Chief Executive) at Holly.Sinclair@patients-association.org.uk

Closing date for applications 26th August 2022.

Interviews to be held TBC, either by Zoom or in person.

Further information about the work of the Patients Association can be found on our website www.patients-association.org.uk
