About the organization

Formed in 2012 as a registered charity, at Improving Lives, we have a clear purpose. This is to improve the lives of people with complex health and social needs within the Nottingham community.

We aim to achieve this by offering an individualised service to empower people to manage the challenges they face more effectively.

As a result of this, Improving Lives will enable people who use the service to make positive changes in their lives and participate in their communities.

 

Role summary

The Treasurer will be involved in the following:

  • Present financial reports at each trustees meeting with Business Manager. Support with oversight of budgets of larger bids and give advice where necessary Support Business Manager with producing and presenting Annual Budget Support Business Manager with forecasting and oversight of financial risks. Be a signatory on Improving Lives’ Bank Account. Approve transactions where necessary. Where there are allegations of Fraud, with support of Board, investigate allegations Support with Review of any Insurance Claims, as necessary.

 

What are we looking for?

The new Treasurer should have the following background/experience:

Essential

  • Qualified accountant and/or knowledge/experience in finance. Proven ability to communicate and explain financial information to the Board and other stakeholders. Analytical and evaluation skills. Knowledge of Accountancy systems and good working knowledge of Excel are essential Good communication and leadership skills. Dedicated to the organisations cause and objectives. Understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship.

Desirable

  • Knowledge and experience of charity fundraising and finance practices.

Time commitment

We estimate that the time commitment is around 3 hours a month.
