We are seeking new members of our Finance subcommittee to support the work of NUS and NUS Charity by overseeing financial strategy and performance. We need members who can be excellent custodians of our financial responsibilities, ensuring both NUS and NUS Charity can exist and thrive in the future.

What do committee members do?

The Finance Committee is a subcommittee of the NUS and NUS Charity Boards with a responsibility for financial strategy looking at both of the two organisations. As a committee member you will scrutinise management accounts and budgets, ensure financial statements and accounts are in order including with external auditors, oversee audit and risk plus input on strategies and plans with any financial implications.

This is an exciting time to volunteer with NUS and NUS Charity. 2021-22 has been an extraordinary year for students and students’ unions. As a Finance Committee member you’ll get to see our work firsthand and have an active role in making sure we deliver value for money.

It’s an opportunity to hone your skills, meet new people and learn more about the fantastic work of our wonderful Students’ Union members.

We’ll give you a full induction, support you as a committee member and pay all reasonable out of pocket expenses.

Who we’re looking for

We are seeking to recruit the widest possible pool of talent to the Finance Committee.  We’re looking for applicants with a background in finance, risk and audit, but more than we’re looking for people who actively live our values to be inclusive, collaborative and anti-oppression in everything we do.
