We are seeking to appoint three new trustees, including a Treasurer, to join our Board (Chapter). We are looking for people with the expertise, commitment and time to help lead the organisation through an exciting new phase of development.
Who we are
Inspired by the Gospel of Jesus Christ, we seek to be in tune with Heaven and in touch with daily life.
Our purpose is to Reveal and sustain Gloucester Cathedral to inspire all who come, through living faith, history and tradition.
This is achieved through three strategic objectives:
1. To welcome all visitors joyfully, ensuring every visit has meaning
2. To deliver our Covid-Recovery Plans and strengthen the Cathedral as a Beacon of Hope across the city, county and diocese
3. To use our assets and partnerships to make a positive contribution to our local community and the planet
This is a challenging but exciting time for Gloucester Cathedral as we seek to reaffirm our role as a Beacon of Hope across the city, county and diocese.
We are looking for people with the expertise, commitment and time to help lead the organisation through a new phase which includes: delivering a £10m development plan, growing our learning and community work and securing long-term sustainability.
Chapter comprises members who are lay and ordained, executive and non-executive as set out in the Cathedral’s Constitution. Lay Chapter members provide constructive challenge, input and support to the Cathedral’s strategic direction and operational implementation.
In addition to general duties and responsibilities as a Lay Member of Chapter, the Treasurer oversees the financial governance of the Cathedral. The Treasurer will have experience and expertise in financial accountability, management and sustainability, and will hold a professional qualification in accounting, with supporting evidence of commercial or charitable experience at Board level.
These roles require applicants who can make a valuable contribution to the life of the Cathedral which could include finance, commercial property management or retail.
As a Christian place of worship, Cathedral trustees must be a communicant member of the Church of England, or a communicant member of a church which is not in communion with the Church of England but subscribes to the doctrine of the Holy Trinity.
Committed to promoting diversity, equality and inclusion, we actively encourage applications from people of all backgrounds.
