The British Kodály Academy promotes the advancement of British music education, following the teachings of Zoltán Kodály. The Kodály Approach – musicianship through singing – provides tools to develop fundamentals such as pulse, inner hearing, good tuning and sight reading ability. It’s said to be life-changing!
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual, with a professional background in finance, to become a trustee of the British Kodály Academy playing an important role in a national charity dedicated to developing quality music education
What will you be doing?
You will provide scrutiny and oversight of the work of the charity, with a particular focus on financial issues. This will include providing information to satisfy the Board that the finances and the related processes are operating effectively. You will use your financial knowledge and experience to undertake a monthly review of the Charity’s management accounts, supporting the Operations Management Team in achieving the charity’s financial targets, as well as providing the necessary oversight of the annual audited accounts process.
What are we looking for?
- Experienced finance professional An interest in music and music education Ideally experience of working in the voluntary and community sector/not for profit environment Ideally experience as a member of a group or committee governing a project or organisation. Ideally previous experience of being a trustee or managing a charity
What difference will you make?
You are expected to contribute specific skills, interests and contacts as a Board member, and play an active part in the work of the Board, fulfilling such other duties or assignments as may be required from time to time
Time commitment
You will be required to attend monthly meetings of the Board either face to face or virtually, along with a small number of other ad-hoc meetings/even
