LinkAble provides exciting activities for children and adults with learning disabilities. We are recruiting a trustee with an accounting background, preferably in a charity, to act as  a sounding board for our in-house accountant.

We are looking for a trustee with a finance background, preferably a qualified accountant who lives in Woking or the surrounding areas. Suitable qualifications would be ACA, ACCA and CIMA. The ideal candidate would also have charity accounting experience. Our in-house accountant prepares all of our financial documentation and submissions: accounts and budgets etc and they would appreciate having an experienced accountant as a sounding board and check and balance. It would be ideal if you are up to date with recent financial regulations particularly in relation to charities.

Board meetings are held 4 times a year and the trustee would also be expected to attend committee meetings 4 times a year. Induction and training is provided, as is support from an experienced and knowledgeable trustee and staff team. The trustee would join the Finance Committee as well as contributing more widely. The time commitment overall is roughly 1-2 days a month.

This is a great opportunity to make the most of your time whether it be by  “putting something back” or building up your skills and experience for your future career. LinkAble makes a big difference in the lives of its service users – you could make a big difference to the charity. Our trustees say that they love attending our events and sessions where they can meet our service users and see directly what a difference the charity makes in people's lives.

s a member of the Board of Trustees you will:

  • Provide strategic oversight and leadership, ensuring that LinkAble pursues its stated objectives through its vision and mission
  • Ensure that LinkAble operates in accordance with the principles of good governance, complying with charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations
  • Provide guidance and support as LinkAble seeks to grow to reach more service users in Woking and Surrey Heath
