Derbyshire Alcohol Advice Service (DAAS) is a well-established progressive Charity (Charitable Incorporated Organisation) with an enviable reputation for delivery. We have a highly client-focused, dedicated and professional staff team delivering an innovative integrated substance misuse service – part of a consortium of four. Our current Chair is looking to step down from his position next year and we are looking for an experienced leader to take the reins in leading our widely skilled board.

We are looking for an experienced senior manager in the public sector, with experience at Board level or equivalent. The new Chair will bring impartiality and objectivity to the decision-making process, leading the Board in the setting of the overall strategy, facilitating discussion, and ensuring that the Board's decisions are consistent with our values and mission. You will bring leadership and vision, strong interpersonal skills and see the ‘big picture’.

The Chair will lead the board in strategic issues such as:

  • Sustaining our exciting and innovative specialised service (“Stand To”) to Armed Forces veterans with recurrent funding. Diversifying our income streams. Managing finances in a challenging economic climate, high inflation, austerity public sector budgets. Re-tendering / re-contracting for contract with Derbyshire CC Public Health. Promoting DAAS and its successes to the wider public.

For more information on our organisation, the role and time-commitment, please take a look at the candidate pack. We warmly encourage prospective applicants to get in touch for an informal chat about the role.
