Who are REN?

In 2021 there were more than 135k refugees living in the UK. These numbers are rising sharply as we welcome Afghans affected by the collapse of their government and Ukrainians fleeing Russia’s war. Refugees face significant barriers in joining the workforce and leveraging their existing skills; in the midst of a skills shortage in the UK, unemployment amongst this group is four times the national average.

The Refugee Employment Network (REN) is a charity (#1196168) that works with its members to help ensure that all refugees in the UK are able to access appropriate, fulfilling, paid employment or self-employment. At REN, we work across the UK with all refugees and have a wide network of over 250 members, including councils, charities and support groups.  To date, we have engaged with over 450 employers and posted over 9,000 jobs nationally. We also provide guidance on helping refugees overcome employment barriers, such as ESOL and statements of comparability.

Volunteer Opportunity 

We are looking for someone who can help in our accounts preparation initially, though there is scope to expand and help elsewhere. You will be working closely with our experienced treasurer along with other members of our board. We aren't a large charity (yet) and therefore it will be a good opportunity for someone to build on their skills in charity accounts.
