The British Liver Trust is looking for a new Treasurer to join our Board.

The British Liver Trust is a small charity with big ambitions. We want liver disease to have the same profile and awareness as the other big killer diseases such as heart disease, stroke and cancer.

All our Trustees play a pivotal role in providing governance and guidance to ensure we are delivering for people with liver disease and liver cancer. They are involved in setting the strategic direction of our organisation, as well as holding the senior management team to account.  The trustees work closely as a team with the senior management, playing an active role advising and mentoring as required.

We are looking for a person to fulfil the role of Treasurer of the charity.

We currently have four Board meetings a year, usually either in London or virtually, with one meeting in Winchester, where our office is based. The Treasurer is also be a key member of the Audit and Risk committee, meeting virtually, four to six times per year, and of the Remuneration Committee (generally once per year).

We are looking for a qualified accountant who has experience of charity finance and accounts to oversee and support the work of the Director of Finance and Operations by:

  • Monitoring the financial standing of the charity and reporting to the Board regarding the organisation’s financial resources. Overseeing the charity’s financial risk-management process and reporting financial health to the board of trustees at regular intervals. Take a strategic view to financial planning whilst also ensuring compliance and control processes are in place. Supporting the trustees to carry out their regulatory financial responsibilities

If you have the skills, knowledge and experience required, please ask for a pack from hr@britishlivertrust.org.uk. If you would like an informal chat with our Chief Executive, Pamela Healy OBE, or our Director of Finance and Operations, Alison Orman, please email HR with your availability so that this can be arranged.

The Board welcomes applicants with the right experience from a diversity of backgrounds. We also welcome applications from people who have personal experience of liver disease. Please tell us if there may be any barriers to your engagement with us and we will actively work with you to remove these.

Applications close 17th October 2022 with interviews (remotely) late October.
