MAG is seeking a new Treasurer to join its passionate, dynamic, and collaborative board and help lead the organisation through the development of the next strategic plan. As a Trustee you will contribute to the development of MAG, by helping to shape the organisational strategy and monitor progress, and by ensuring that the charity pursues its mission, objectives, sustainability and duty of care to its people.

 

Mines Advisory Group (MAG) is an internationally renowned humanitarian organisation with a long-term commitment to support the millions of women, men, girls, and boys affected by violence, conflict and instability. Its work spans over 30 countries around the globe and helps to make lives safer through clearing landmines and other explosives; weapons and ammunition management; risk awareness education; and advocating and influencing. MAG’s work helps communities develop socially and economically; where human rights are upheld; and people live with dignity and choice. and free from fear.

The role of Treasurer offers the opportunity to have a real impact on the future shape of MAG’s work helping to shape the organisational strategy and monitor progress, and by ensuring that the charity pursues its mission to save lives and build safer futures.

This is a voluntary role that comes with the opportunity to use your strategic financial management to advise the work of a leading global humanitarian organisation committed to conflict prevention and recovery.

MAG is looking for someone who shares this vision and who will lead the Board on financial governance for the organisation. As a £75m+ organisation it’s essential that you will bring a depth of understanding of financial management and accounting, strong business and financial acumen, and a passion for change.

 

The time commitment for this post includes four Board meetings a year, quarterly Audit, Finance and Risk Committee meetings, for which you would be the chair, and bi-annual Board away days. The UK office is based in Manchester, however virtual attendance at Board and Committee meetings is fine. This is a three-year voluntary role, with the ability to serve a second three-year team of office.

NB: The role will involve occasional international travel to MAG overseas operations
