Stockport and District Mind – Treasurer (finance trustee)

Would you like the opportunity to join the Board of a charity working to ensure that people in Stockport and Cheshire East with mental health issues get support and respect through inclusive, engaging services?

About Us

We are an independent local charity, affiliated to national Mind. Our vision is to ensure that everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets both support and respect. We are well known in the area and deliver services that are truly transformational for those who access them. We also contribute to wellbeing and social value in the wider community.

We offer friendly, accessible support and information and have been supporting people in Stockport and Cheshire East and their carers for over 50 years.  We are overseen by a board of Trustees, with services delivered by paid staff and volunteers, a number of whom have experienced mental distress and used a range of support services.  We work hard to ensure that our service is personalised and empowers people to reach their full potential.

Treasurer (finance trustee)

We are looking for an experienced professional with financial management or accountancy skills, to join our board as treasurer. The overall role of a treasurer is to work with the Board to ensure that we maintain an overview of the organisation’s affairs, ensure its financial viability and ensure that proper financial records and procedures are maintained.

The treasurer role is pivotal to supporting the senior team, and assuring and supporting the Board, in the development of strong financial strategy. Day to day leadership and management is delegated to the staff team, with the treasurer working in partnership with the CEO and the Board, in a strategic advisory capacity.

We’re looking for a dedicated and motivated individual to take on this roles and help make our mission a reality and lead the organisation closer towards our ultimate ambition: a society where everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets both support and respect.

Diversity is critical for a board to be effective; enabling varied discussions, active debate and decision making, so that together we can have the greatest impact. We encourage applications from people with lived experience of mental health problems and from all ethnic, socio-economic, religious and professional and personal backgrounds. Whether you’re an experienced trustee or taking your first steps into governance, if you have the commitment, values and skills, we want to hear from you.
