Grove Learning Trust is a multi-academy trust with schools in and around the Swindon area.

The location of our trust, nestled amongst the counties of Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire and Swindon, presents us with a prime opportunity to grow sustainable and strong partnerships with schools and academies in this area.  We are keen that all GLT schools build and celebrate a strong individual identity whilst benefiting from the active support of others around them in the trust.

We are passionate about making connections and learning from each other, with a very clear focus: raising standards so that children in all GLT academies get the very best education and develop the same passion for learning that we have.

We are looking for like minded individuals, to join our Governance Team as a Non-Executive Director (more commonly referred to as a Trustee). There are two vacancies on our Board and ideally, we would like an individual with a proven financial background, and another with education / school improvement experience.

The Role of a Non-Executive Director (Trustee)

This is a non-executive Director position in a voluntary capacity. It is a highly rewarding role where you can support the delivery of educational excellence to children and local communities across the trust.

Directors maintain a trust-wide view and are accountable for the standards, performance and financial probity.

Directors are responsible for ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction for the trust, and for setting the trust’s priorities. They hold the CEO and other executive leaders to account for delivering the strategy and performance outcomes – both educational and financial. Directors operate through 2 committees: Standards & Performance and Resources, Audit and Risk.

Meeting schedule:

  • Board of Directors: held six times per year, in the evening. Resources, Audit & Risk: held six times per year, in the evening. Standards & Performance: held five times per year, in the morning.

Recruitment Process:

  • Complete GLT Application Form
  • Informal interview with a panel of GLT Directors & CEO
  • References are requested by the Governance Professional
  • DBS checks completed
  • Recommendation of formal appointment put to GLT Members
