The Trustees of Somerset Wildlife Trust are seeking a new Treasurer to replace Richard Atkin who will retire from this office at the end of his fixed term period at our November 2023 AGM.

We are starting the recruitment process now so that the appointed person can work with Richard during a transition period, learn about Somerset Wildlife Trust and get to know staff and trustees before taking over the role.

Somerset Wildlife Trust has grown significantly over the last few years, rising to the twin global challenges of the climate and biodiversity emergencies. Our new strategy, Wilder Somerset 2030, commits us to ambitious goals that will lead the change needed for nature’s recovery in our county. While we are experiencing significant change as we grow, the Trust is financially stable with a strong and experience team of staff, trustees, volunteers and supporters who all share a passion and commitment to our charity and our work for nature.

Trustees are looking for a new Treasurer to secure and ensure our continued financial stability, and make sure we have the resources required to deliver our strategic objectives. The Treasurer is also Chair of the Finance and Resources sub-committee, so will need to be experienced in running meetings and seeking agreement.

If you think you have the skills and experience for this role, and have a passion for the work and values of Somerset Wildlife Trust then we would love to hear from you.

Trustees recognise that board diversity is vital for Somerset Wildlife Trust to achieve our aims and deliver our plan for nature. We have committed to an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan and encourage applicants who share our passion for Somerset, for wildlife, for our values and our purpose, from all and any backgrounds.

Applications should be sent by email to recruitment@somersetwildlife.org (in any format, providing they include information found in a CV), along with a covering statement setting out your skills and experience relevant to the role description and skills we are seeking.

Applications will be considered throughout the recruitment period, with suitable candidates being invited to interview to discuss their relevant skills and experience, and how they would complement the existing board of Trustees.
