About The Avalon Group

The Avalon Group is an award-winning charity providing flexible person-centred care, support and companionship for everyday life, housing, learning and employment.

We provide support to a wide range of individuals across the North of England. Our customers include older adults, people with dementia, physical, sensory or learning disabilities, mental health difficulties, acquired brain injuries, young people in transition and adults on the autistic spectrum.

What will you be doing?

Avalon has excellent links with the communities we operate in and are recognised by CQC and our customers as providing good services in all 9 locations registered. This is an exciting period for the organisation as we recently launched our new 3 year Strategic Plan.

To complement the current Board of Trustees, we are looking to appoint new Trustees to help drive the charity forward and continue to build on our strong reputation with regulators and commissioners.

What are we looking for?

While the new Trustees do not necessarily need previous non-executive experience, they will be able to demonstrate a strong track record in senior leadership positions and be willing and able to contribute to the full agenda at Avalon. To provide expertise, guidance and governance to a team that will deliver our vision for a world where disabled people are seen for who they are, having equality, choice and independence.

In addition, we are looking for Trustees with experience at a strategic level in one or more of the following areas:

  • Housing
  • Finance
  • Technology
  • Commissioning

Trustees will be able to demonstrate a clear empathy with the aims of the charity and the sector, live or have close links with one of the areas we cover and need to be available around two days per month.

What difference will you make?

To provide expertise, guidance and governance to a team that will deliver our vision for a world where disabled people are seen for who they are, having equality, choice and independence.

Commitment:

Estimate of time needed: 0-5 hours / month or 1-3 hours / week
