Finance Trustee and HR Trustee | Sunderland Students’ Union

Commitment: 10 days per year

We are looking for two dedicated trustees to energise our board and play a critical role in supporting the development, lives, and successes of University of Sunderland students.

The University of Sunderland SU is a £1.4 million charity and the student’s union for over 24,000 students. We operate across Sunderland’s University London and Sunderland Campuses.

Now is an exciting time to lead the Union. We are about to launch a new strategy which contains six key priorities:

1. increase SU engagement online and across both campuses
2. deliver support programmes for student groups
3. understand the next generation of students meeting diverse and international needs
4. build a realistic financial plan to generate resilience
5. transform our staff team
6. develop graduate outcomes to give widening the opportunities our graduates face

We need two trustees who can play crucial leadership and scrutiny roles. Our trustee board ensures we act in the best interest of Sunderland students, deliver our strategy and operate correctly.

We need a trustee with a strong finance background who can chair our risk and resource committee where you will scrutinise spending and accounts.

Or, as a trustee with HR experience, you will feed into our strategic vision and its delivery, whilst chairing our fledgling peoples and cultures committee.

We are open to differing sector backgrounds but want you to be engaged and motivated by working alongside student and sabbatical trustees.
