About Stuart Low Trust

Many of the beneficiaries of the Stuart Low Trust (SLT), based in Islington in London, have a history of mental ill health, homelessness and poverty and are socially isolated - although all participants are welcome

We help by providing safe space and local community activities (particularly out of hours).

Our help brings troubled people together, offering them support and social actvities to expland their lives. Feedback from particpants is extremely positive, some saying SLT has been life-changing. The charity has won many awards.

What will you be doing?

SLT wants a Chair of Trustees with a commitment to improve SLT's performance and management at a time of increasing pressure in the charity sector.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for someone that has good communication skills, knowledge of or interest in the mental health field, experience of strategic planning and implementation,  experience of Board membership.

What difference will you make?

As Chair of Trustees you will play a key role in maintaining and improving what SLT does to support those in an inner London borough who lack social support and need opportunities to expand their community involvement

Commitment:

Eight evening Board meetings a year; bi-monthly meeting with the CEO; occasional attendance at SLT events

How to apply:

Please apply through Reach in the first instance. Interviews will take place week beginning 7th November 2020.

The covering letter should be no more than two sides of A4, and should include the following:

  • Why you think you are suitable for this role, and what you think you can ‘bring to the table.’
  • Your experience of the mental health field, and your interest in it.
  • Your experience of Board membership, and any experience as acting as Chair.
  • Your experience of strategic planning and implementation.
  • Any strong networking skills you have that will benefit SLT.

You will be able to speak to the CEO or other Board members about the charity if you wish.

Deadline: 14th November 2022
