Role Summary The Chair will lead the organisation and the Board of Trustees, and will work closely with other team members including volunteers and eventually, paid staff, advising on all governance matters. The Chair will be expected to attend Board meetings and the Annual General Meeting (AGM). Normally Trustees are asked to commit to a 3 year term on the Board.

Key responsibilities

1. Representing Be Kind Movement, raising our profile and acting as a spokesperson as appropriate, as appropriate 

2. Gain a good understanding of the work, impact and potential of the organisation

3. Providing leadership and motivation to the Trustee Board by supporting the team to remain focused on delivering our aims

4. Facilitating board meetings, in person and on line to ensure that meetings are well run and all board members are adequately prepared and able to contribute to decision making

5. Lead the culture of the organisation - how?

6. Giving strategic direction and facilitating key decision-making

7. Planning the annual cycle of Board meetings, setting agendas and chairing Board meetings

8. Ensuring the charity is compliant with reporting to regulatory bodies such as the Charity Commission, Fundraising Regulator etc

9. Maintaining strategic oversight of board development.
