Audit and Assurance Technical Manager London - hybrid working 2 days in office and 3 from home. 12 Month FTC Maternity cover Full Time£78,000pa depending on experience Overall purpose of the role of Audit and Assurance Technical Manager Maternity cover to January 2024 for Technical Manager, Audit & Assurance.To support ICAEW members with timely and practical support on audit and assurance issues, through the creation and dissemination of guidance and commentary.To shape ICAEW policy and champion ICAEW's reputation and influence in audit and assurance matters, particularly in relation to audit quality, UK audit reform, and proposals for the improvement of UK and international auditing and assurance standards and practice.This role offers significant variety and an opportunity to network with, influence and gain valuable insights from a range of key stakeholders with an interest in audit and assurance. Responsibilities of Audit and Assurance Technical Manager The primary responsibilities of this role are to: Engage directly with key stakeholders within and outside the profession on key policy issues and challenges in audit and assuranceDevelop ICAEW technical policy positions on audit and assurance matters, including formulating representations to regulators and standard setters and coordinating outreach with ICAEW membersCreate and curate high quality implementation support and guidance for ICAEW members on auditing and assurance standards and other related areasChampion audit quality across the profession by proactively responding to challenges and developing thought leadership on key developments and proposals for changeCollaborate with departments across ICAEW to deliver audit and assurance content and events of the highest quality and to ensure that existing content is up-to-date and fit for purposeRaising awareness and communicating key developments to members through writing articles for ICAEW Insights and other media channels. These responsibilities will involve working closely with other members of the Audit & Assurance Faculty team, expert volunteers on committees, wider ICAEW membership, other teams within ICAEW's Reputation & Influence department and other ICAEW departments to help identify issues and challenges and the need for new guidance.Specific duties will vary and will change over time in line with the business needs. Part-time and hybrid/home-based working considered.
Candidate Requirements of Audit and Assurance Technical Manager The post holder will be a Chartered Accountant ACA.They need a good understanding of developments affecting audit and assurance, an interest in emerging issues such as climate and sustainability assurance, and the ability to plan effectively and focus resource to best effect. The role would suit someone who has undertaken roles with an emphasis on technical work. They need to be a strong team worker, with good interpersonal skills and the confidence to engage with policy makers and leaders of the profession. High quality communication skills are therefore essential. Strong management skills are also needed, including the ability (i) to monitor work and priorities, (ii) to engender a good working relationship with colleagues across ICAEW and (iii) to ensure activities and policy are aligned with and supportive of ICAEW's strategy.
