Could you be a Harlow Health Centre Trustee?

Who are we?

We have a unique role supporting NHS Primary Healthcare in West Essex and East Hertfordshire. We are a registered Health charity developing and running Health centres providing GP Surgeries, Primary Care Networks, Hospital outpatient Clinics, Out of Hours providers, Pharmacies and Dental services to nearly 100,000 patients in Harlow, Essex. We currently have 6 Health Centres and these are run under a charitable trust to allow us to be a highly cost effective partner with Hertfordshire and West Essex NHS Integrated Care Board, NHS England, NHS Property Services, Princess Alexandra Hospital and other local Hospital Trusts, Community Trusts and primary care providers. As a charity we also award grants and donations to other charities to provide innovative solutions to improve Health and Wellbeing initiatives in the Community.

What are we looking for?

We are recruiting for 3 Trustees for our Governing Board. Whether you are an experienced trustee, board member or looking to take your first step into a charitable governance role, we would like to hear from you. Our Trustees drive our Strategic development. They bring a range of perspectives, experience, skills and lived experience to respond to the ever more demanding provision of Primary Community Healthcare through the NHS.

We are looking for a new Trustee with specific financial expertise, who will also sit on the Audit and Risk Committee and have the capacity and interest to chair this committee in the medium to long term.  The individual will be a qualified accountant with expertise and solid experience in charity accounting. The HHCT Audit and Risk Committee meet 4 times a year ahead of Board meetings.

Whatever your background, we are looking for Trustees to believe in our charitable purpose and the ever-changing provision of NHS Primary Healthcare. All applicants must be eligible to act as a charity trustee in England and Wales.

You should be able to commit to up to 6 Board Meetings per year as well as one Strategy Day and some ad hoc events. All meetings are held in the Trust’s Offices in Latton Bush, Harlow, Essex. In addition, Trustees will join at least one Board sub committee (Grants, Finance and Audit, Estates) and represent the Trust in partnership meetings with our stakeholders.

Why volunteer?

  • An opportunity to contribute to the provision of complex healthcare in an ever changing and demanding environment.
  • Opportunities to gain new skills and network with senior healthcare professionals.
  • To influence and shape strategy and lead innovative projects.
  • To be part of a small but thriving Healthcare charity with high standards of compliance and transparency.
  • A comprehensive induction, training, and reimbursable expenses.
