Where will they be working?
From our office

Have you got the commitment and desire to work with us to help our children “be the best they can be”?

Two new Trustee opportunities for someone with sound financial skills and knowledge and someone with a background in education and safeguarding to join us on the board of trustees for the East Midlands Academy Trust.

Our family of seven schools collectively became EMAT in 2018 and currently includes an all-through school in Northampton, a secondary school in Oundle and five primary schools in Northamptonshire and Milton Keynes, serving over 5,000 pupils through the tenacity and professionalism of 600 colleagues.

Every child deserves to be the best they can be, and therefore inclusion is at the heart of everything we do.   We pride ourselves on supporting our pupils to learn and develop through the highest quality teaching across our family of schools.

We recognise our aim that “Every child deserves to be the best they can be” can only be achieved with committed and empowered staff, governors and trustees and have created a strong culture of personal and professional development, which includes a host of learning opportunities offered through our in-house training hub.  Our governors and trustees fully support us as we strive to be the employer of choice in the area.

EMAT has now been in existence for five years and as such, a few of our fabulous original trustees are now coming to the end of their term with us.  They have helped to shape our trust to date and they are big shoes to fill.  We are looking to replace them with people who are equally committed to our vision and values, who will bring experience from a wide variety of backgrounds and who will enjoy the challenge of contributing to a diverse and energetic multi-academy trust. With your expertise and knowledge in these areas, you’ll work with other trustees to play a key role in the evaluation of the current strategy and the development of our next five-year strategy to ensure our children can ‘be the best that they can be’.

As well as ensuring we have a diverse board, we are particularly interested in recruiting people with skills and experience in scrutinising and bringing challenge to management accounts and budgets or who have previous educational experience and a sound knowledge of safeguarding, but would welcome a conversation with anyone with the time and enthusiasm to join us.

Perhaps this is your first appointment as a Trustee?  Full training will be provided and we will value you for the personal skills and experience you bring with you to the role.  More important will be your desire to enable improvements for the good of our students, staff, volunteers and wider community, ultimately leading to better outcomes for children.

What is the time commitment?

Trustees should be available for 6-12 board and committee meetings per year (approximately two hours each), plus one strategy day in the Autumn.

Where?

We are keen to recruit Trustees from Northamptonshire or Buckinghamshire who can attend occasional monitoring visits to our trust schools.

How to apply?

Please apply via our trust website at http://emat.uk/become-a-trustee telling us why you are interested in the role and what experience you can offer that will add value to the East Midlands Academy Trust.  This recruitment round does not have a closing date and we will be interviewing people as we receive applications, so if you are interested in getting involved, please do give us a call.
