Brooklands College is a medium sized College of Further Education,  based at two campuses in Weybridge and Ashford.  We are looking for new governors with an accountancy or audit background to serve on our Corporation Board, which meets six times a year, and either our Finance and Resources Committee or our Audit Committee.

We are committed to expanding the diversity of our Board to reflect that of our student body, and would welcome expressions of interest from individuals from a variety of backgrounds.

Brooklands College  has a good reputation for the successful delivery of motor sport, general and aerospace engineering, together with a rich history and association with Brooklands racetrack and Vickers who started manufacturing aircraft on the site in 1915. In 1907 the Brooklands racetrack was opened by the Locke King family, and marked a significant point in history as the first purpose-built motor racing circuit in the world.
The Locke King family, who lived in Brooklands House on the Weybridge college site, were pioneers of their time and their creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship shapes the spirit of the College. We are proud of our heritage and continue to instil this ethos into college life.

The vast majority of students attend the Weybridge campus which currently has the capacity for c2000 students.  The College provides a broad range of full and part-time education and training for learners and apprentices. Ofsted (January 2020) judged the College as Good, providing consistently good education and training for learners and apprentices. School links are good with the College experiencing increased demand for full time 14-16 college places from mainstream schools and electively home-educated pupils, primarily in Construction, Hair & Beauty and Engineering.  The College has a small provision in higher education with some validated provision for Motorsport Engineering with Oxford Brookes University and Early Years and Special Educational Needs with Kingston University. HNC Forensic Science and HNC Policing were introduced in September 2021.

The Ashford site accommodates 16-19 learners enrolled on Business and Electrical Installation programmes.  It also provides English Language, mathematics, and English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) courses in the daytime and evenings. The Brooks Hair & Beauty Salon on the high street provides full-time and part-time provision for learners aged 14-18 and adults.

The College has good financial health, having achieved a small surplus in 2021-22. Governors are currently overseeing a significant capital project relating to the Weybridge Campus.
