Summit Learning Trust is honoured and proud to have school and college governors as well as Trustees from a wide and varied backgrounds who support, challenge and inspire our leaders to make a difference to the education of our children and young people. Governors and trustees transform the lives of children and young people in their communities by improving educational standards and they play an intrinsic role in education.

Vince Green, CEO, Summit Learning Trust said, "Our Governors and Trustees carry out a crucial role in challenging and supporting our Trust and academy leaders to put in place the very best provision and care for our learners. It would be great to hear from individuals who can contribute to this work and our ongoing work to positively impact our communities."

Working as a team, governors and trustees challenge and support leaders to ensure children and young people receive the very best educational experience. This is achieved by harnessing the professional skills, expertise and local knowledge of governors and trustees. It is in this light that we always welcome the next generation of governors and trustees from wide and varied backgrounds who can work with us to transform our Trust, our schools and our college.

About Summit Learning Trust

Summit Learning Trust comprises of eight academies of which there are four primary schools, three secondary schools and a Sixth Form College, all of which help to deliver our commitment to quality first education for the learners and the communities they serve. The success of the Trust can also be evidenced in our established teacher training arm (South Birmingham SCITT) as well as our Professional Learning Institute (PLI), which provides professional learning for all Summit colleagues including governors and trustees. These establishments allow us to ensure that Summit Learning Trust delivers at the cutting edge of educational and organisational performance.

Our Trust provides educational provision for almost 8,000 children and young people and we employ almost 1000 staff members who provide expertise in all roles and at all levels. At Summit Learning Trust we retain and value our status as a close-knit family, who Protect, Support and Challenge each other in order to enable us to provide the very best in educational provision and care for the children and young people we serve in Birmingham and Solihull. The close-geographical location of our schools and college supports us to utilise a collaborative approach across all of our academies. This collective work has harnessed evident progress; over the last five years, two of our academies have improved from ‘special measures’ to ‘good’, with some ‘outstanding’ features (one for the first time in 15 years, the other for the first time in its history). Furthermore, two academies have improved impressively, securing ‘good’ judgements. A key feature of this journey has been a significant improvement in the academic outcomes our learners have achieved.

Summit Learning Trust works collaboratively across its schools and college form phases. Leaders are also aware that our schools and college each have individual contexts and identities which are essential to their own success as well as the overall benefit and success of the communities we serve. Across our Trust, we are unapologetic about the importance of academic outcomes for our children and young people and we set them high targets and expectations. The same approach is taken for our Summit teams through the broad set of Key Performance Indicators which encompass all crucial areas to ensure that all colleagues sustain high-quality educational provision and care at all times.
