PCN is a Foundation Charitable Incorporated Organisation whose members are the trustees. Eight trustees, all volunteers, currently oversee six part-time staff members and five occasional workers.
We are practising Christians, united in our passion to see pregnancy centres open and thriving across the UK so that no woman or partner has to face unplanned pregnancy or pregnancy loss alone and that young people and vulnerable adults are empowered to make healthy decisions about relationships and sexual health. We value diversity and are looking to maintain a Board which comprises members of differing age, gender, cultural background, and experience of the issues faced by centres, their staff, and their clients. Previous experience as a trustee is not a requirement.
The Treasurer will take the lead at Board level on:
- making sure the charity keeps proper accounts, including oversight and guidance for the Bookkeeper
- reviewing the charity’s financial performance
- drawing up or reviewing policies for finance and investment
- ensuring that the charity has robust and effective financial controls in place
Essential to the role are the following:
- Business/accounting experience
- Ability to communicate financial data clearly to those without business/accounting skills.
- Attendance at monthly Finance Subcommittee meetings
- Agreement with PCN statement of faith
- Agreement with PCN vision and ethos
- Availability for trustee meetings, and ability to attend at least 4 main trustee meetings per year (Regular meetings take place on Zoom on Saturday mornings four to six times a year. In addition, staff and trustees meet together for an annual vision day.)
- Ability to communicate with others in a variety of media ways, such as WhatsApp, e-mail. etc
- Ability to work in a team
- Recognition of the importance of Diversity and Inclusion
Desirable for the role:
- Experience of working with Xero
- Charitable Trustee experience
- Pregnancy Centre experience
- Strategic perspective
- Leadership experience
- Strong Church network
- Able to attend the National Conference
