Treasurer

We are recruiting an Honorary Treasurer for the Candlewick Ward Club, a City of London ward club founded over 350 years ago and a not-for-profit members’ club.  With around 170 members, the Club is known for its friendly, welcoming atmosphere. The Treasurer is responsible for the Club’s finances and the role includes maintaining financial records, banking matters and preparing annual accounts. This is a voluntary unremunerated role but expenses are covered, as well as the Club's annual membership subscription.

The role is home-based apart from attendance at twice-yearly (evening) committee meetings and the AGM, all held in the Guildhall, London EC1. The Treasurer works in close collaboration with the Chairman and the Honorary Secretary, who deals with the general administration of the Club and its activities.

On top of finance and IT skills, we are looking for a team player who will enjoy working, albeit mainly remotely, as part of a small friendly team, and contributing to the continuing success of the ‘ancient institution’ of Candlewick Ward Club. We are open to candidates from diverse backgrounds, at all stages of their careers, and will offer a supportive environment to individuals taking on their first honorary treasurer role. To ensure a smooth handover, the new Treasurer will initially shadow our long-serving Treasurer, who retires in 2024.

The time commitment of the role is variable at different times of the year but we estimate will average out at around 4 hours per week/a couple of days per month.
