Organization Overview:
Morocco Animal Aid is a compassionate animal health and welfare charity committed to alleviating the suffering of animals in Morocco and addressing the urgent issue of rabies. Our mission is to provide comprehensive veterinary care, raise awareness about animal welfare, and implement sustainable solutions to enhance the lives of animals and the communities they inhabit; such as vaccinating and controlling street dog populations.
Position Summary:
The Treasurer Trustee is a vital member of the board responsible for overseeing the financial health, integrity, and sustainability of Morocco Animal Aid. The Treasurer will play a crucial role in managing the charity's finances, ensuring effective financial reporting, and providing strategic financial guidance to support the organization's mission. This is a flexible and part-time voluntary position.
Responsibilities:
Financial Oversight:
● Collaborate with the accountant to monitor the organization's financial activities, ensuring compliance with financial policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
● Review and analyze financial statements, budgets, and financial reports to provide informed recommendations to the board regarding financial decisions.
Budgeting and Planning:
● Contribute to the development of the annual budget and long-term financial plans that align with the charity's strategic goals and objectives.
● Provide input on resource allocation, funding priorities, and financial strategies to optimize the organization's impact.
Risk Management:
● Identify and assess financial risks, proposing mitigation strategies to safeguard the charity's assets and reputation.
● Collaborate with the board and management team to implement effective internal controls and financial risk management procedures.
Financial Reporting:
● Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting to the board, providing insights into the organization's financial performance, trends, and projections.
● Present financial reports and updates at trustee meetings to facilitate informed decision-making.
Fundraising and Resource Development:
● Collaborate with the board and fundraising team to develop and execute fundraising strategies that support the organization's financial sustainability.
● Participate in donor engagement and stewardship activities as appropriate.
Compliance and Governance:
● Ensure compliance with financial regulations, reporting requirements, and governance standards applicable to the charitable sector.
● Contribute to the maintenance of ethical financial practices and a culture of transparency and accountability.
Stakeholder Engagement:
● Engage with external stakeholders, partners, and donors to promote the organization's financial integrity and sustainability.
● Represent Morocco Animal Aid professionally in financial discussions and collaborations.
Qualifications and Skills:
● Strong financial management and analytical skills, with a solid understanding of financial principles and practices.
● Previous experience in finance, accounting, or related fields, preferably within the non-profit or charity sector.
● Familiarity with financial governance and compliance regulations within the charitable sector.
● Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of conveying complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
● Ability to work collaboratively as part of a diverse board team, fostering an inclusive and constructive environment.
● Passion for animal welfare and alignment with Morocco Animal Aid's mission.
● High level of integrity, ethics, and professionalism.
Time Commitment:
This is a voluntary position with a flexible time commitment. The Treasurer Trustee is expected to attend regular trustee meetings, review financial reports, provide financial guidance, and allocate additional time for ad hoc responsibilities as needed.
