Greater Manchester Moving is a Greater Manchester charity which exists to change lives through movement, physical activity and sport. This drives everything that we do and motivates every single person engaged with our organisation. We lead, support and connect people and partners across our brilliant city-region to enable Active Lives for All, uniting communities and creating more equal and inclusive places so that people can lead happier, healthier and more fulfilled lives.

We were formally known as GreaterSport, and on 1st September 2023 we became Greater Manchester Moving (we are still registered as Greater Manchester Sports Partnership). This updated name better reflects our long-term ambitions for Greater Manchester and will enhance our efforts to deliver the shared GM Moving in Action strategy with partners. We are seeking to appoint a new Trustee to further strengthen our Board.

We are particularly interested in recruiting individuals with understanding, skills and/or experience in one or more of the following areas:

Sport and physical activity landscape

• Developing an inclusive and welcoming sport system. Sport as a vehicle for social change and inclusion. Structures, strategies and policies. The ecosystem (National Governing Bodies, sport for development, major events, leisure provision, school sport etc).

Policy/Public Affairs

• The political landscape. Engagement and influencing strategies. Policy development and positioning. 

Charity finance/growth

• Financial stability and sustainability. Fundraising and income diversity. Corporate partnerships. 

Data, insight, evaluation and learning

• Best practice and its application. Process evaluation and impact methodology. Creating and embedding a learning culture.

Innovation

• Accelerating and deepening our work and value through social, economic, health, digital and tech innovation.

We are a values-led organisation guided by passion, integrity and purpose. We recognise and embrace the benefits of having an inclusive and diverse Board and see increasing diversity and inclusivity at Board level as an essential element to achieve our stated aims and objectives. As an organisation we believe we should be reflective of the people within our communities and as such we are looking to strengthen our already talented and committed Board by recruiting Trustees from underrepresented groups. Also, those with no previous board experience, as we provide learning and development opportunities to support Trustees in their role.
