Alpha Academies Trust is looking to engage Trustees who will bring a passion for raising aspirations and supporting children and young people to achieve great things.

Location: Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire

Commitment:  5 meetings a year

The Alpha Academies Trust was established to create a network of primary and secondary academies in North Staffordshire. 

Based within our excellent teaching facilities, our overriding ambition is to provide a progressive and stimulating curriculum, from pre-school to sixteen and beyond. We care about the whole child and the development of rounded capable young people who will influence the world for the good and go on to be employed in a wide range of areas.

We are committed to working with stakeholders, partners and other Trusts. Together, we can create a joined-up offer that will bring about transformational education from birth to adulthood and help to make our locality vibrant. We play our part as civic leaders and take our responsibilities to the community seriously. Environmental sustainability and digital transformation are fundamental to our work.

About the role

We are keen to welcome new Trustees to our Board with the relevant background and experience who share our passion for education. The Board operates as a group that doesn’t shy away from taking difficult decisions or engaging in constructive debate, is always supportive of the principles underlying the Alpha Academies Trust and the Board relishes the opportunity to contribute to the long-term prosperity and wellbeing of our communities.

Time commitment

The Trustee Board meets five times over the academic year for virtual meetings with a face-to-face strategy day that is held on-site at the Discovery Academy. All meetings are scheduled in advance to allow Trustees to work with their busy calendars; and expectations would be that all meetings are attended unless exceptional circumstances preclude this.

Who we are looking for

We are in the process of conducting review of our governance and part of this has been about skills and succession planning for the future. In light of this, we are looking to engage strategic leaders who will bring the following expertise:

• Finance 
• School improvement.
