Bristol Autism support is growing strongly in the face of massive demand for its services both in the city and potentially the wider South West. We are looking for a Treasurer to bring financial expertise to the board as well as helping define what the organisation looks like for the next stages of its growth.
Main responsibilities:
- Attend Board meetings and participate in defining the strategic direction of the charity and the decision making processes of the Board.
- Approve and regularly review the organisation’s budget.
- Ensure that the organisation is financially sound.
- Ensure that all published reports adequately reflect the nature of the organisation and its financial health.
- Appoint independent financial auditors and or examiners as required and approve final audited accounts.
- The Treasurer is responsible for ensuring that the charity trustees comply with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 with regard to: the keeping of accounting records, the preparation and scrutiny of statements of account, the preparation of annual reports and returns. The statements of account, reports and returns must be sent to the Charity Commission, regardless of the income of the CIO, within 10 months of the financial year end.
- Ensuring the charity trustees comply with their obligation to inform the Commission within 28 days of any change in the particulars of the CIO entered on the Central Register of Charities.
