We're looking for a new Chair to lead our Board and help our highly successful charity go from strength to strength.
What will you be doing?
The current trustee Board is working well with the new CEO and now is an excellent time for a new Chair to take up their role, working closely with her as she puts into place, with trustee guidance, her many plans for the immediate and long-term future of the organisation.
We are looking for someone who will have the time and passion for leading the organisation into this next exciting project phase. There is a lot about the organisation and the way that it works which doesn't need fixing - but we feel that the right Chair will be able to develop and draw out excellence from those working for the organisation as the strategy plan is executed over the next few years.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for someone who is committed to improving the lives of older people across East London, with experience of being a Board member and at least a working knowledge of the requirements of charity governance.
It is highly desirable that you have experience of being a Chair, but not essential if leadership qualities can be evidenced and we encourage applications from those who can evidence their leadership capabilities in local and/or community settings.
Any previous experience in the voluntary sector, adult social care, NHS, or similar relevant experience to the work of AUKEL would be helpful.
You must be committed to equity, diversity and inclusion and understand the impact disadvantage and discrimination has on the life chances of our population.
You will be curious, collaborative and ambitious and able to commit to an average of one-to two days a month (most meetings are in the evenings).
What difference will you make?
In the words of one of our trustees: 'I continue to be impressed with the extent of the help AUKEL provides in our communities. The need for the service is increasing as the cost of living crisis deepens. I see the Trustee role as an enabling role. I enjoy rolling up my sleeves alongside my fellow trustees to tackle some challenging issues with our combined skill sets".
