Sherborne Museum has reached an exciting stage in its development. The Board has agreed to use a recent bequest as match-funding for a National Lottery Heritage Fund bid. This will enable the professional reconfiguring of the museum and reinterpretation of the town’s history. The Treasurer will play a key role in ensuring that the charity remains financially resilient on a day-to-day and longer term basis and will also participate in formulating our vision for the future.
More specifically, the role of the Treasurer is to maintain an oversight of our finances and ensure that the organisation remains financially resilient and compliant. Key responsibilities will be to report on our financial position at Board meetings and to make sure that funds are properly managed. They will also ensure that bookkeeping, record keeping, and budgeting are carried out effectively. It is hoped that a Treasurer will enable the whole Board to take an holistic overview of the financial situation and encourage engagement with the charity's finances.
