The Royal College of Art Students' Union is a charity and the students’ union for more than 2,800 students. We represent our members to the University and other organisations on the issues that matter to students most. We also exist to help students develop skills outside of study, have fun, meet people and make sure their time at the RCA is special.

RCASU is looking for a professional to join our Trustee Board as an External Trustee. The Trustee Board is ultimately responsible for overseeing the affairs of the RCASU. Our Trustees must ensure that the RCASU is well run and delivers the objectives for which it has been set up.

It is an exciting time for RCASU as we move on with our 2022-2027 strategic plan and continue to deliver excellent services for our students. A strong and active Trustee Board is essential to support and guide the organisation’s work. We have also recently switched to a CIO and registered as a new charity.

We would encourage candidates with current or previous experience in a membership or charitable organisation; however, this is not necessarily a requirement. We would be particularly interested to hear from individuals with experience of accountancy, financial management and audits.

The post of External Trustee is appointed for a period of four years, which can be extended for a second term up to a maximum of six years. This role is not remunerated; however reasonable expenses (travel/accommodation etc) will be reimbursed.
