Education Learning Trust is a growing Multi-Academy Trust (MAT) based in Gatley, Greater Manchester.
The Trust seeks to recruit a Member - a role akin to that of a shareholder, receiving annual audited accounts, altering the Trust's Articles and holding the main Trust Board to account. Members meet twice per year, typically in December and April, and can attend remotely with an option for physical attendance in December if preferred.
ELT is primary and secondary-phase Trust - comprising three primary and two secondary schools at present - with over 3500 pupils and 500 staff. The Trust is proud of its ethos to 'Collaborate, Empower and Achieve'. The Trust has high aspirations for learners, both pupils and adults alike, to enable them to achieve their goals, reach their potential and become empowered citizens of the future. The Trust has income of circa £23m.
The Trust grew out of Gatley Primary School which has been judged by Ofsted as 'Outstanding' since 2010.
They have added two more primaries (Bredbury Green Meadowbank) and two secondaries (Kingsway and Werneth) since the initial creation of the Trust.
The Trust enjoys good relationships with other local Trusts and has some support from some key players in the region who are helping to train and develop the team, particularly in the secondary schools.
ELT's vision is to provide:
- exciting, innovative and challenging learning communities;
- school improvement strategies arising from evidenced based research and professional enquiry;
- opportunities for professional development and leadership;
- a celebration of the diversity and uniqueness of individual settings;
- a recognition of the value to learning of partnership, both locally and nationally.
The ELT Members Board currently comprises a broad range of skills and therefore the Trust is open to people with any suitable experience of governance - either corporate or charity in nature - ideally having had experience on a board before.
