We are looking for committed people to support an organisation working

with the most vulnerable children and young people

Alternative Learning Trust is a multi-academy trust (MAT) with a two-tier governance structure comprised of Members and Trustees.  Our MAT was created to provide a home for schools/provisions that did not have a community to belong to; to take its place in a sector that needed advocacy and accountability, to strengthen Alternative Provision (AP) and Special Schools/Pupil Referral Units (PRUs) and their collaboration with mainstream schools and the full range of children’s services nationally to improve outcomes for children with SEN/behaviour that communicates challenges, and their families. Alternative Provision/PRUs support children with Special Educational Needs or who have been excluded from school.

We are seeking dedicated Trustees who can offer their expertise and time to join our highly supportive and committed Board of Trustees who have a passion for education, social justice, and a commitment to continuous school improvement.

We are seeking at least one Trustee from this recruitment round who has financial knowledge and experience and would be willing to sit on our Audit, Risk and Finance Committee.  To maintain our balance of skills and experience on the Board of Trustees, we are also interested to hear from applicants who have experience in HR or education.

We are committed to equality and diversity and aim to ensure that our Board of Trustees comprises individuals who reflect the community at large.  We would strongly encourage applications from under-represented and minority groups.

If you feel that you are able to commit to supporting Alternative Learning Trust and its development and are interested in applying for the above position, a no obligation introductory conversation with the Chair of Trustees and Head of Governance would be welcomed.

Safeguarding statement

Alternative Learning Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  All our employees and volunteers are recruited on their merits, abilities, and suitability for the role, complying with all relevant legislation, recommendations and guidance.  The position advertised here is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
