The Regional Furniture Society (RFS) is seeking a Treasurer to look after all aspects of the Societies finances.

The role includes preparing and presenting financial reports, including the annual accounts, to the Society’s governing body (the Council), advising the trustees on all financial matters and liaising with the managers of the invested reserves.  It also includes routine financial duties such as budgeting, expenditure control and some elements of bookkeeping.  The Treasurer liaises with and assists the Membership Secretary who collects and records subscription payments and the Events Secretary who organises and collects fees for events.

The Society is a registered charity (number 297488) founded in 1984 to advance the study of the history, design, production, distribution and use of regional furniture in the British Isles and to further public knowledge and appreciation of it.  It does this by encouraging the conservation and preservation of examples of furniture and related archives both in museums and in other collections, by encouraging research, by making grants and bursaries for such research, by publishing a learned journal and by organising lectures, conferences, visits and other events.  Further information about the RFS and its activities may be found at

The Treasurer is a trustee of the Society and a member of the Council.  The Council meets twice a year, usually in London, and the Annual General meeting takes place during the annual conference at various locations around the UK.
